Cleaning Your Makeup Brushes 101

Hey Guys!

I found an affordable, yet effective, way to clean makeup brushes! It washes away the bacteria & makeup without drying out your bristles. Most of the things you need you all already have in your home.. & if not they aren't pricey at all & can be found at your local grocery store.

I created a simple step-by-step guide that includes pictures & videos. ENJOY!

Things you need

Olive oil (To keep bristles conditioned)

Antibacterial dish soap (To disinfect)

Cup

Sink
Plate
Paper towels
The Brush Guards (Only $5.50 including shipping -

Steps:

1. Distribute equal amounts of olive oil & dish soap on plate. You can always add more so don't over do it.

2. Grab your soiled make up brush and use it to mix the olive oil & soap together. Make sure the mixture covers all the bristles. Rub back & forth and in circles, you'll see the makeup coming off the brush. Video example below:

3. After all your brushes are saturated with the mixture, rinse off the brushes in the sink. Make sure to rinse off the brushes VERY good.

4. Put the paper towel flat on the counter & tap the brushes until most of the water is gone & the brush is damp.

5. Shape the bristles & slip on the brush guards. Make sure to leave about an inch worth of space so you can stand the brush up in the cup without the bristles touching the bottom of the cup. The Brush Guards are perfect for drying your brushes because they keep the bristles in tact & they have openings so the brush can dry quickly. Video example below:





6. Put brushes in your cup, bristles pointing downwards. Make sure the bristles are pointing down so any water in the ferrule (Part of the brush that holds the bristles to the handle) dries up. The water COULD ruin the adhesive holding the bristles together and will ruin the brush.

7. Let the brushes dry :)

*I try to clean my brushes at night before bed so they have all night to dry & I have clean brushes in the morning.
